A donation of 44 specialized Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, valued at 2.16 billion kwacha, has been made to four central hospitals by a non-profit organization “Patriots”.
This is part of the “100-Container of Medical Equipment and Supplies Project”.
The recipient hospitals are Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Kamuzu Central Hospital, Zomba Central Hospital, and Mzuzu Central Hospital.
According to Kamuzu Chibambo, Chairperson of “Patriots”, the donation aims to address the specific needs of hospitals, enabling healthcare workers to provide improved care.
Zuze Kawale, Deputy Hospital Director at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, described the donation as “a historic moment” that brings hope and relief to hospital resources.
The donation was made possible through partnerships with Project C.U.R.E. (USA), Islamic Relief USA, and the Malawi Embassy in Washington, D.C.
