Police in Nsanje have launched a manhunt for assailants who killed a security guard in the district.
Nsanje Police Station spokesperson Agnes Zalakoma said the incident happened at Chapinga village T/A Mlolo, in the district where a security guard identified as Luwis Joke aged 65 year of same village was killed by unknown assailants.
Zalakoma said the reporter of the incident Ganizani Kambere told them that he owns a shop at Chapinga village where he sells groceries and other items and employed a security guard to be guarding the shop during night hours.
Zalakoma said on July 10 2022 around 20:00hrs the reporter closed his shop safely after business and left for his house leaving the above-mentioned watchman at shop.
It is said the businessman later in the evening received a message from the residents near thieves were seen around the shop only to find the guard in a pool of blood with the shop looted.
With the help of police officers at Fatima, Joke was pronounced dead at Trinity Mission Hospital where medics said he died due to excessive loss of blood secondary to the deep cuts sustained.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to arrest the culprits and recover the stolen properties.
