Relocation of Govt entities, not an economic threat-Expert

Experts have quashed fears of disturbed business operations in Blantyre, following relocation of government head offices to Lilongwe.

The remarks by Tamanda Chadzunda, an Economic Expert, come after officials at the electoral body- Mec have announced an effective relocation of their head office to the capital city Lilongwe.

Government is reportedly planning to have all of its major offices moved to Lilongwe, including the head office for Immigration department.

However, some stakeholders have expressed concern that these developments will pose negative effects on economic activities in the commercial city.

Meanwhile, Chadzunda has observed that although some of the offices are being relocated, there is no direct impact on the business activities.

Chadzunda has since told MIJ Online that Blantyre has numerous companies that contribute positively to the economic drive of the city.
