School feeding woes affecting education in Chikwawa

Authorities in Chikwawa have stressed that lack of funds to support school feeding programmes in some schools as one of the major emerging issues.

Authorities deliberate on solutions.

Chikwawa District School Health and Nutrition Coordinator, Charles Muyanika revealed that 23 out of 186 schools in the district are not on the feeding programme forcing learners travel long distances to schools on the programme.

Muyanika revealed this in a five day workshop organised by the District Council as an effort to equip media on issues about Nutrition and health.

Chikwawa Principal Nutrition HIV/AIDS Officer, Chifundo Manong’a says expects the media to broaden their knowledge thereby reporting well balanced nutrition stories.

Meanwhile, the District Director of Planning and Development, Jossen Tembo challenged the media to make intensified efforts to spread messages and make the communities aware about malnutrition.
