A 19-year-old boy has died in a road accident occurred in Neno district in the early hours of today , police say.
Neno police public relations officer Rebecca Msoliza, says the deceased and 10 others were traveling to Chifunga in an 8-tonner truck, a Mitsubishi Fuso with registration number BP 7607 when the accident happened.
According to reports, the driver, Mwadaine Josephy, 33, from Dedza district, lost control of the vehicle after it developed a fault in the Magaleta area.
The truck overturned, resulting in fatal head injuries for Nyirenda.
Msoliza stated that, Nyirenda was pronounced dead at Magaleta Health Center, while the other passengers sustained minor injuries and received outpatient treatment at the same facility.
Meanwhile police in Neno district are urging drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly serviced before embarking on a journey to prevent such accidents in the future.
