Over 5 thousand cases are yet to be concluded at the Industrial Relations Court, stakeholders have revealed.
George Khaki, president for Employers Consultative Association of Malawi has made the revelation to MIJ Online.
Khaki has attributed this underperformance of the courts to underfunding and shortage of human resource.
Meanwhile, Khaki has noted that this may have a negative impact on prospective investors who at times before investing into a country look at labor laws and the performance of parameters whose aim is to enforce, interpret laws.
On hi part, Peter Dimba, Chairperson for Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs who has said the problem has been there for years now.
Dimba has however told MIJ Online that during the recent parliamentary meetings, lawmakers passed a labour relations bill which among others seeks to allow the recruitment of permanent panelists which will eventually help to deal with the underperformance of the courts
