Malawi Prison Service has confirmed the arrest of two prison warders at Chichiri Prison over the escape of three inmates at the facility.
According to Chimwemwe Shaba, Spokesperson for the service the two officers are Edward Chelafu and Wonderful Chiwaula.
Shaba said the two have been arrested because preliminary findings indicate that the officers were not at the post which they were assigned to man which the prisoners used to escape.
He said the service has asked the police to question them on why they were not at the post.
