In a move to support the fight against breast cancer, 888bets Malawi has today donated 2.5 million Kwacha at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, to support cancer diagnosis.
During the official cheque handover ceremony at QECH, Grace Mandevu Marketing Manager at 888bets, stressed that the donation is part of the company’s Malawi’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities.
“We choose QECH because it is Malawi’s main referral and teaching hospital, and the cancer unit currently faces major shortages in both medication and laboratory supplies,” she said.
On behalf of QECH, Dr. Noel Chiphwangwi, Oncologist, Head of Department praised the donation, stating that it’s timely.
“This will directly fund vital diagnostic services that QECH does not currently offer, like histopathology and tumor markers.” he said.
Additionally, Dr. Chimphwangwi stated that the donation will assist in giving patients who would not otherwise receive timely and accurate cancer diagnoses.
