Old Mutual Malawi, Blantyre Foundation has today donated cholera kits and medical supplies worth K5 million to Malamulo Hospital in Thyolo and Chilinga Health Center in Phalombe in a quest to support efforts to deal with cholera in the two districts.
The donation to the two facilities which fall under the Christian Health Association has since been described as crucial in taming infections around the two districts.
According to Old Mutual Blantyre Foundation Chairperson Taonga Manda, the donation is part of their nationwide support whose funds hover around K 21 Million Kwacha.
” So far, over 2500 cases have been registered, hospitals are becoming overwhelmed with number of cases and most health facilities are experiencing acute shortage of medical supplies. We have invested K21 Million where K9.5 Million has been used to procure 60 cholera beds for Blantyre DHO while over K6 Million is being used for the construction of a cholera camp in Lilongwe’s Area 36,” said Manda.
On his part, Robert Mletseni representing Malamulo Management said the donation has comer the right time when the facility had been in need of more resources.
