The Anti-Corruption Bureau has received forensic equipment which it says will assist its efforts to scale down corruption in the country.
The donation has been made by the Irish Aid.
In an interview, ACB Director Reyneck Matemba said the equipment will help the bureau in conducting investigations quickly saying that in the long run, the equipment will also serve the bureau money.
‘’Before this forensic equipment, the ACB used to send the electronic gadgets to Europe for forensic analysis. We feel happy to have this equipment now,’’.
Matemba also said that other law enforcement agencies such as the Malawi Revenue Authority and the Malawi Police Service have used the forensic equipment before.
‘’In the end, as the Financial Intelligence Authority has been given an investigative mandate under the Financial Crimes Act, they will also be able to use the forensic equipment for their investigations,’’ said Matemba.
