Airtel supports relief food items drive

The Ministry of Finance has urged stakeholders to support the 2025–2026 Lean Season Food Insecurity Response Program, to prevent hunger-related deaths.

It follows the K300 million Airtel Malawi plc’s donation towards the program aimed at assisting 4.1 million people who are at risk of hunger.

Joseph Mwanamveka, Finance Minister expressed government’s committed to ensure that timely assistance reaches those in greatest need.

While describing the situation as critical, Airtel Malawi’s Managing Director Aashish Dutt highlighted the need to help the most vulnerable families.

The Lean Season Food Insecurity Response Plan requires an estimated K209.4 billion (about USD 119 million) to meet its key priorities.
