A governance commentator has called on President Peter Mutharika to provide a clear strategy for tackling Malawi’s economic crises, specifically ongoing fuel and foreign exchange shortages.
This call comes as the President marks 37 days in office, a period where some experts have commended his initial efforts, including the formation of a lean cabinet and implementing austerity measures.
In an interview, Wonderful Mkhutche a governance commentator, acknowledged the government’s efforts but stressed the need for clarity.
“For now we just need a clarity on the direction we are going as a country to deal with the issues and when these issues are expected to end,” Mkhutche said.
While Mutharika, has repeatedly called for public patience, Mkhutche urged the President not to base his entire approach on that sentiment.
