Players in the fight against corruption say forfeiture of property proven to have been obtained through corrupt means is critical in ensuring that justice is served on perpetrators of the vice.
This comes amid concerns that corruption related cases take forever to be finalized in courts a thing that further motivate other people to partake in corrupt related activities.
According to Martha Chizuma ACB director general corruption related cases take long to be completed due to the long processes involved in litigating the same hence the need to find other legal ways of trying to curb the vice.
Chizuma there are laws that support the forfeiture of property that was obtained using proceeds of corrupt deals hence the need to make use of the said laws to ensure that justice is being served on perpetrators of corruption.
The graft busting body chief has since announced the establishment of a fifteen member team comprised of lawyers and investigators within ACB takes to investigate and ascertain property acquired through corruption.
Meanwhile Moses Mkandawire chairperson of the National Ant Corruption Alliance has welcomed the move saying it will assist in recovering some public resources.
According to Mkandawire it is high time the country adopted other lawful means of ensuring that people pay back to government what they got through defrauding government of its resources.
