At a time when the betting industry is booming in Malawi, another company, Betika is expected to open its operations in the country.
Betika is a sports betting platform with operations in Nairobi, Kenya and there it is licensed and regulated by the BCLB.
According to Gift Govati, Betika country manager, the platform will offer more new experiences for customers in respect to how trends are across the globe.
‘’We will have virtual games, football, horse racing and all other games including jackpot where one can have chance of winning 65 million kwacha.’’ said Govati.
Betika office is currently allocated in Limbe Blantyre opposite post office, but it is setting up efforts to have offices countrywide.
In November last year, eight betting companies were given a nod to operate by the Malawi after getting approval from the National Lotteries Board (NLB) and Malawi Gaming Board (MGB).
In the most recent passed national budget, government put aside announced that tax on betting has been reduced from 20% to 5% only.
