People’s Party -Presidential candidate, Dr Joyce Banda who is also a former head of state has said the various challenges Malawi is experiencing are a result greedy politicians who put their interests above those of the nation.
Banda was speaking at Zolozolo Primary school ground in Mzuzu after holding whistle stop tours at Chiwavi and Geisha townships.
Addressing the gathering, Banda said for a long time, Malawians have been taken for granted by politicians who do not have their welfare of the citizenry at heart.
According to Banda, Malawians are languishing in poverty due to weak and unsound policies being championed by the current regime.
She said this does not only affect people at personal level but it also affect their contribution in building the country’s economy.
This far, Banda has said to turn things around, her government will establish sustainable ways of generating income for personal growth which will also feed into the economic development of the country.
Meanwhile Banda’s running mate Khumbo Kachali has said the forthcoming election is an opportunity for Malawians to end the social-economic injustices which has led to the rise in prices of basic necessities.
