The opposition UTM has joined calls for the immediate release of Human Rights Defenders Coalition Members MacDonald Sembereka and Gift Trapence.
The two have spent their night in a cooler while Chairperson Timothy Mtambo is said to be on the run according to a police press statement.
Secretary General for UTM Joseph Chidanti Malunga while condemning the act in its entirety described the arrest of Sembereka and Trapence as hindrance to democracy.
Malunga added by calling for the release of the two forthwith.
Their arrest comes after the grouping disclosed of intentions to seal state residences over the electoral bills situation.
According to police, the HRDC leadership is facing charges of inciting violence.
