Macra warns on exam results flouting

Communications regulator, Macra, has issued a stern warning against the unlawful sharing of individuals’ exam results on social media.

The warning follows the conduct of some individuals who are sharing national examination results of some candidates on social media.

In a statement signed by Daudi Sulemani director general for Macra, the regulator indicated that Maneb results are personal data protected by law.

It further said, publishing such data online without the person’s explicit consent is illegal under the Data Protection Act, 2024.

The authority has since emphasized that this practice is a serious offence and can result in fines or criminal prosecution.

Meanwhile, the public is being urged to respect the privacy of exam candidates and to cease sharing results immediately.
