Authorities have announced plans to begin the process of reviewing Malawi’s labor laws in order to strengthen them for improved effectiveness in promoting the achievement of decent work in the country.
The initiative coincides with an ongoing labor conference for inspectors in Lilongwe, focusing on ‘enhancing the attainment of decent jobs and sustainable economic development.’
Addressing the gathering, Johannes Mandowa, an OSH Expert with the EU-funded Zantchito Skills for Jobs program, stated that their project will initiate a review of Malawi’s labor laws to foster decent work opportunities for all.
Mandowa highlighted the importance of equipping labor inspectors with vital skills, efficiencies, and competencies to enhance their effectiveness in fulfilling their labor administration responsibilities.
And on her part, Minister of Labor, Agnes Nyalonje, has urged everyone to play a significant role in advocating for decent job opportunities for all.
