PDU advances security call

The Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) has stressed on the need for greater coordination among security sector stakeholders arguing that this is key to iron out standing bottlenecks.

This comes following a completion of a three-day public sector mini lab which focused on the security sector in Lilongwe.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders including the Malawi Police Service, National Registration Bureau, Department of Immigration and Malawi Prison Service.

Speaking to MIJ Online Dr. Janet Banda, head of PDU, said that the mini lab has helped to find solutions to work on the revealed lack of collaboration among ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in discharging their mandates.

Banda has also indicated that a technical meeting is scheduled for next week to facilitate the integration of various systems with the national registration and identification system.

And on his part, Mphatso Sambo, Principal Secretary for the National Registration Bureau (NRB), highlighted the importance of integrating systems across institutions to ensure integrity and create a trustworthy public service.
