The Malawi Police Service says the minimum requirements for recruitment of police officers were followed during the latest recruitment process.
The clarification follows public discontent with some of the officers who have been recruited –on the claim that some of them are underage.
According to a statement signed by -James Kadadzera – Public Relations officer for Malawi Police Service – no standards were lowered during the process, saying no underage candidates were recruited.
Kadadzera adds that all recruits were examined by qualified medical officers and were certified for the training.
Further Kadadzera said all the recruits have a minimum qualification of Malawi School Certificate and Education- MSCE and all have National Identity Cards.
