Police to take Kalindo to court ‘when ready’

The Malawi Police Service says politician Bon Kalindo who has been arrested for making false public statements will be taken to court when the police get ready.

Kalindo: Arrested.

Kalindo has handed himself to police after he made claims that former deputy speaker of Parliament Clement Chiwaya was killed.

A police statement signed by James Kadadzera, police publicist says Kalindo made the remarks during an anti-government protest in Mangochi.

Police say the remarks cause unrest and fear as evidence suggested rather that Chiwaya committed suicide.

He has also been arrested on the charge of publishing a false statement that government is aware of people behind atrocities that people living with albinism are facing.

Meanwhile, Kadadzera has told MIJ Online that Kalindo will be taken to court for formal charging when the state is ready.
