A 3-year-old girl has died, while a woman is in excruciating pains after a man set them ablaze following a family dispute in Thyolo district.
The incident occurred on November 3, 2021 at Tembenu Village.
Rodrick Maida-Police spokesperson for South East Region has identified the suspect as Ulemu Brazio whilst the victims are the wife-Tamandani Baisoni aged 19 and a daughter Chancy Brazio aged 3.
It is alleged that Ulemu married his wife Tamandani two years ago and since then they have been experiencing misunderstandings that end up in the wife being assaulted by the husband.
According to Maida, on the fateful day Ulemu once again picked a quarrel with his wife Tamandani and out of anger he poured petrol on his wife and daughter then set them ablaze.
“Tamandani and Chancy sustained severe burnt injuries whilst Ulemu sustained minor burnt injuries, they were all admitted at Thyolo district hospital.” Said Maida in
Police have since confirmed that the death of Chancy in the early hours of Thursday.
Upon being discharged from the hospital, Ulemu is going to appear before court to answer a case of murder.
Police have since advised couples to seek peaceful interventions when misunderstandings arise rather than resorting to physical assault in order to end their differences amicably.
Husband, wife and daughter hail from Tembenu Village in Traditional Authority Nchilamwera in Thyolo.
