Thieves have stolen goods worth over MK2.5 billion from Central Poultry’s six farms at Mpingu in Lilongwe.
The incident comes just days after a similar break-in at Thanzi Farm in M’bwatalika area.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Jessica Kadzakumanja Spokesperson for Central Poultry confirmed that the stolen goods which include chickens and others are worth over 2.5 billion kwacha.
The police are currently investigating the incident, but Kadzakumanja said it’s unclear what motivated the thieves.
Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Vitumbiko Mumba, has urged Central Poultry to enhance security measures, such as building a strong wall around their premises.
Mumba also encouraged the company to engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives to improve their relations with the surrounding community.
