Tobacco Commission remits MK1.5 Billion to Govt

The Tobacco Commission has remitted 1.5 billion kwacha to the government as annual dividends following a huge profit made in the 2024/2025 financial year.

This impressive sum is a result of the commission’s substantial profit marking a notable turnaround from its performance in previous years.
In an interview with MIJ Online Esther Kapapa, Minister of Finance, Simplex Chithyola Banda, has commended the Tobacco Commission for its remarkable achievement.
Banda added by expressing gratitude for the commission’s success and encouraged other non-governmental organizations to follow suit in striving for similar excellence.
And on his part, Godfrey Chapola, Chairperson of the Tobacco Commission has attributed prudent financial management to have played a huge role for the commission to generate huge profits.
