Students from public universities in the country have petitioned government demanding for an increase in upkeep allowances.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Charles Dokera, President for University of Malawi- UNIMA said needy students are MK 100,000 for four months.
Dokera- has proposed that government should be giving each needy student MK80,000 per month in order to ease their challenges.
Efforts to speak to Chikondi Chimala, spokesperson for ministry of education proved futile – as he was not picking up his phone.
