A 12-year-old boy at Nthulinga Village, Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhatabay District has committed suicide after quarrelling with his grand-father.
The incident comes barely a day after a teenager killed himself in Chintheche.
The 12-year old deceased has been identified as Kumbukani Nyirenda.
Reports have shown that Kumbukani was staying with his grand-parents.
On January 3, 2022 his grandfather asked to help him constructing a pit latrine.
Displeased, the boy furiously left the place and went to a nearby trading centre.
He unnoticeably came back later and went straight into his bedroom where he reportedly hanged himself.
Immediately after this was realized, a report was conveyed to Nkhata Bay Police Station and police officers rushed to the scene and took the victim to Nkhata Bay District Hospital where death was confirmed as due to suffocation secondary to strangulation.
At the meantime, police in the district are advising parents and guardians to make sure that they treat their children with love and passion to avoid such deaths.
