Health authorities at Zingwangwa Heath Center in Blantyre have expressed concern over an increase in the number of girls having unsafe abortion.
Dorica Mzumela, a clinician at the facility said this during a stakeholders meeting organized by Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Organization over the matter.
Mzumala disclosed that at least seven girls between the ages of 14 and 24 are treated daily as a result of unsuccessful abortion.
She said most of the girls are committing unsafe abortion because of financial challenges.
In her part Temwanani Banda, one of the officials at Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights organization said the organization will promote civic education in order to address the problem of teenage pregnancies.
