Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony, CDH Investment Bank Chief Business Development Officer, Mr Jamal Kamoto, said the bank’s sponsorship was a demonstration of its appreciation for BAM’s contribution to Malawi’s banking sector. He said the banking sector has a critical role to play in supporting sustainable development and expressed confidence that the conference would generate practical ideas to advance financial inclusion and sustainable development.

Receiving the sponsorship, BAM Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Lyness Nkungula, expressed appreciation to CDH Investment Bank for its continued partnership and support over the years.

Mrs Nkungula said the conference theme reflects Malawi’s aspiration to build a stronger and more resilient economy through industrialisation, noting that achieving this requires collaboration among government, the private sector and financial institutions.

She emphasised that commercial banks have a critical role in mobilising investment, supporting businesses, promoting financial inclusion and financing industries that can drive economic growth. She added that the rapidly changing business environment requires organisations to continuously innovate and adapt.

“The Bankers Lake Conference provides an important platform for leaders to share ideas, discuss emerging trends and identify practical solutions that will strengthen our financial sector and support sustainable economic development,” Mrs Nkungula said.

She noted that this year’s conference will bring together industry leaders and professionals for topical discussions focused on innovation, growth and collaboration, with the aim of generating meaningful conversations and practical outcomes for the banking industry and the country.

Mrs Nkungula further thanked CDH Investment Bank for its Bronze Sponsorship and said the contribution was more than financial support, as it demonstrated the bank’s commitment to the growth of Malawi’s banking sector and broader economic development.

She said BAM looks forward to continued collaboration with CDH Investment Bank and other stakeholders in advancing the shared goal of building a stronger, more innovative and industrialised Malawi.
