Environmentalist Mathews Malata, has raised concerns over the lack of political will to prioritize environmental protection in political party manifestos as campaigns wind up.
The concern has been raised ahead of the September 16 general elections.
In an interview with Mij Online Malata observes that while parties are concluding their campaigns, environmental issues remain sidelined, with manifestos offering little on waste management, pollution, and climate change.
He stressed that most parties are focusing heavily on the economy without recognizing the direct link between environmental degradation and agricultural productivity, including challenges such as dry spells, flooding, and the push for clean energy.
