DPP slams Chakwera over ‘continued travel’

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has strongly condemned President Lazarus Chakwera over what it is describing as continued travel.

This criticism comes as Chakwera continues to hold various engagements.

Speaking to MIJ Online, George Chaponda, Leader of Opposition in Parliament, has urged Chakwera to stop his “trivial travels” which are draining the nation’s resources.

Chaponda has issued the statement.

Chaponda emphasized that the President should focus on addressing the pressing issues affecting the country, such as hunger and economic stagnation.

“The President’s constant travels are not only a waste of resources but also a distraction from the critical issues that need his attention. We urge him to prioritize the needs of Malawians and stop indulging in unnecessary travels.” Said Chaponda

Chaponda’s statement comes as Malawians are struggling to make ends meet, with rising food prices and unemployment rates.

The country is also facing a healthcare crisis, with many hospitals lacking basic medical supplies.

The DPP’s condemnation of Chakwera’s travels has sparked a heated debate, with some supporting the President’s efforts to promote Malawi internationally, while others agree with the opposition party that the travels are unnecessary and a waste of resources.
