The Flames non- residential training ended last Friday as coach Meck Mwase has released the players to join their respective clubs in pre-season training.
Mwase and his backroom staff have been drilling the players in the three regions since January 28, as one way of keeping them fit in the off season ahead of AFCON Qualifiers against Burkina Faso next month.
“We were working with the boys because they were just iddle as their teams were on break and with the Burkina Faso matches just a few weeks away it was important to keep them busy.
“Now that most of the teams have started pre-season training, we believe that the boys will maintain the fitness.
“The three weeks have been successful. We did everything that we had planned and we thank the boys for working very hard,’ he said
Mwase said the players will regroup for full camp training during the first week of March.
Malawi will play Burkina Faso away in Ouagadougou on March 28 before hosting their opponents at the Kamuzu Stadium three days later.
