The Football Association of Malawi has confirmed that Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili will be part of Malawi’s technical team at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, but he will not lead the team as head coach.

This is because Fazili, who made history by taking Malawi to the WAFCON final in Morocco and qualifying the Scorchers for their first-ever World Cup, does not have the CAF A Licence which is a minimum requirement to sit on the bench as head coach at the World Cup.
Fazili managed to coach at WAFCON because he already had a running contract with the national team.
According to Fleetwood Haiya, FAM has not forgotten Fazili’s achievement and wants him to be part of the historic journey to Brazil.
He said Fazili is on the list of coaches who will attend the CAF A course that CAF has allowed FAM to organize locally in November or December.
However, the FAM President said the timing will work against Fazili.
