Lughano hunted: Clubs for Mzuni fullback

As the time nears until the TNM Super league kicks off, top clubs are casting their nets wider in a sole bid to catch the signature of Mzuni defender Lughano Kayira.

The full-back whose 2 year-contract with Mzuni F.C now Mzuzu warriors expired a few days ago, has won hearts of Be Forward Wanderers, Blue Eagles, Civo, Azam Tigers and newly promoted Ekwendeni Hammers.

Although odds favor Blue Eagles still, the move by Nomads to join the hunt for the defender imply the soldiers will not have an easy ride to earn his services.

Without disclosing their actual interest in Kayira, Blue Eagles Communication Manager Steven Kumalonje said the Area 30 side intends to sign a defender before the league starts.

“I can’t comment on Lughano but our team needs a center back. If Eagles are going to sign him we will always communicate to the media,’’ He said.

Reacting on the recent Lughano’s market demand, Vice coach for Mzuzu warriors-Etison Kadenge Mwafulirwa said he will accept any decision from his captain citing that the player has a future to define.

“If he decides to go, we will welcome the idea. We are a team with talents, he is our captain as of now and we respect him that way, but he has a decision to make,” he stressed.

Kayira has been pivotal to clubs in his career since 2015, he joined Mzuni having failed trials at Blue Eagles.

He played for Nthalire based side, Chilaghala FC before joining Mzuzu warriors.
