One of the country’s prominent private learning institutions, Maranatha Academy has disclosed it will award K500, 000 to the school’s learner Esther Chavula, who has passed this year’s Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) exams with flying colors.
This follows the release of the 2021 JEC exams on Thursday by the Malawi Examinations Board in which Maranatha girls Academy scored with a six star, as all 97 students, who sat for the examinations have passed.
Esther Chavula passed with straight A’s in all the subjects.
Meanwhile Ernest Kaonga, Managing Director for Maranatha Academy said he will reward Esther Chavula with K500, 000 from the school as a recognition for her hard work.
Kawonga said the top students’ award initiative, which was started way back at the school was introduced to encourage students to excel in education.
The school disclosed that some students at their girl’s campus who passed with flying colors in the 2020/2021 JCE examinations will be awarded with various gifts by Maranatha Academy.
“As Maranatha we are very delighted to see girls doing well in the JCE exams and we are going to reward top performer at our girl’s campus who is Esther Chavula.
“We will also recognize and award boys who have emerged as most outstanding,” said Kawonga.said Kaonga.
In the just released JCE exams, Maranatha achieved pass rate for boys of 99 per cent, as out of 82 students at boys campus who sat for the exams only 1 failed.
Meanwhile, Kawonga has hailed government and Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) for the professional handling of the 2021 JCE EXAMINATIONS.
According to MANEB, out of the 63,513 female candidates who sat for this examination, 45,346 have passed representing 71.40% pass rate.
Out of the 66,415 male candidates who sat for this examination, 53,407 have passed, representing 80.41% pass rate.
