Authorities at the Malawi University of Science and Technology have disclosed that the school will only open after an assessment is made over events that led to the closure of the school.
The school was closed following violence started by some students who were barred from writing examinations due to fees balances.
Speaking to MIJ Online, James Mphande, Communication Manager at the Malawi University of Science and Technology said the management will now have to decide on modalities of opening of the school after the indefinite closure.
In a memo to students, the University’s Registrar Alfred Danny Alfred Chimombo said a meeting was held today where it was resolved that the college should be closed with immediate effect.
“This decision has been made to ensure the safety of staff and students following the illegal student protests that disrupted scheduled examinations and resulted in staff harassment,” said Chimombo.
The registrar added that date of reopening of the institution will be communicated to the students through emails.
