There was chaos in parliament today as leader of opposition sought clarification from the government on whether it is sending two hundred twenty-one youths to Israel to combat Hamas or as part of the country’s labor export initiative.
Nankhumwa claimed that a chartered plane from Tel Aviv, Israel, is scheduled to land at Kamuzu International Airport at 3:00 am to carry the youths.
In response, the leader of the house, Richard Chimwendo Banda, insisted on the withdrawal of the allegations and demanded evidence from the leader of the opposition.
Speaker of the House Catherine Gotani Hara ruled that Nakhumwa should present the evidence during the Monday parliamentary session.
In an interview with MIJ Online, Nankhumwa expressed his desire for government clarification on whether the young people are being sent to participate in the war or as part of the labor export.
However, Richard Chimwendo Banda, leader of the house, described the allegations as unfortunate, stating that the government has been sending young people out of the country as part of both labor export and labor skill-sharing initiatives.
