“Passport woes to end”-Govt

Government has revealed that three new heavy-duty passport printing machines will be arriving in the country next week.

The move, according to the authorities, aims to end challenges rocking people at the Immigration.

The machines will be installed in Mzuzu, Mangochi, and Blantyre to boost passports production.

Speaking to MIJ Online Peter Mukhito Minister of Homeland Security said that the new machines in respective locations will help to deal with available backlog as they will be printing over two thousands passports on daily basis.

Mukhito further indicated that corruption and funding issues have caused delays, with the government citing a problematic agreement with Madras, the Indian firm handling passport services.
