Immigration authorities in Zimbabwe have deported 18 Malawians, police in Mwanza say.
The group comprising of 7 women and 11 men arrived at Mwanza border around 6pm using a Zimbabwe registered bus
In an interview, the deportees indicated that there were arrested whilst in transit to South Africa by security personnel in Harare in January and have been in custody over the last two months.
They have been released upon being advised on the need to follow the legal travel procedures.
Meanwhile, the department of Immigration and Citizenship Services has appealed to the general public on the need to use proper documentation and use of certified forms of transport whenever they are planning to cross borders.
