The Southern Region Chess League (SRCL) is set to host the highly anticipated CAS Chess Open Championship this weekend, October 4-5, at Ngaliya Lodge in Blantyre.
Speaking to MIJ Online, SRCL chairperson Martin Nyamilandu confirmed that all preparations are complete, and the stage is set for a thrilling competition.
According to Nyamilandu, over 40 players have already registered for the tournament, promising a fiercely competitive event.
Nyamilandu expressed satisfaction with the response but encouraged more players to participate to ensure the tournament reaches its full potential.
The CAS Chess Open Championship aligns with SRCL’s efforts to promote chess development in Malawi, particularly in primary, secondary schools, and colleges.
This initiative aims to develop chess skills among students and provide a platform for them to compete and grow.
