Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima has called upon the Anti- Corruption Bureau to deal with all perpetrators of corruption without fear or favor.

The call has been made following reports that investors are not willing to come to Malawi as a result of high corruption rate in both public and private sectors.

Speaking at this year’s international anti-corruption day in Mzuzu, Chilima said the ACB and all law enforcement agencies should deal with all perpetrators of corruption and fraud as the practices are derailing the country’s development agendas.

Chilima calls for a bold step in ending corruption.

The vice president said government is working tirelessly to convince investors from different countries to come to Malawi.

Meanwhile, Martha Chizuma, director general of Anti-Corruption Bureau has disclosed that a recent national dialogue report against corruption has recommended mainstreaming the concept of lifestyle audit, e-governance and digitalization, asset recovery and the establishment of financial crimes court as an anti-corruption tool.

However, Titus Mvalo, Minister of Justice has refuted allegations that government is targeting the opposition in its fight against corruption.
