Chilima’s corruption case to continue next week

The Lilongwe High Court Judge, Redson Kapindu, has rescheduled Vice President Saulos Chilima’s plea hearing to next Friday, May 10th 2024.

This decision comes as the court was set to proceed with Chilima’s case, which involves allegations of receiving a bribe from businessman Zuneth Sattar in exchange for a government contract.

In an interview with MIJ Online, Khumbo Soko, Chilima’s defense lawyer, confirmed the change, stating that the court did not provide reasons for the alteration.

Soko further mentioned that during the upcoming session, the court will continue with plea taking and provide directions on the case’s further proceedings.
