The Ministry of Health has confirmed a case of cholera at Machinga District Hospital.
According to a statement from Dr Charles Mwansambo- secretary in the Ministry of Health the case was detected on Wednesday 02nd March 2022 and it is a 57-year-old male from Balaka District.
Mwansambo said government through the Ministry of Health has put measures in place to prevent and control spread of the outbreak by intensifying surveillance including contact tracing of the index case and the administration of oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) in Cholera hotspot areas as well as distributing.
Meanwhile government has called on people go to the hospital early if they develop diarrhea or if they are suffering from any other disease.
