Examinations body MANEB has released the 2026 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) and Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) results.
A total of 245,048 candidates sat for the PSLCE examination, with 198,903 passing, representing an 81.17% pass rate.
A joint statement by the Education Ministry and MANEB shows boys have outperformed girls, with an 85.69% pass rate compared to 76.94%.
For JCE, 125,777 out of 154,880 candidates passed, representing an 81.21% pass rate.
Boys again performed better at 84.04% against 78.49% for girls.
On secondary school selection, 110,522 candidates who passed PSLCE have been selected to Form 1, representing a 55.57% transition rate, up from 47.59% in 2025.
Zomba Urban, Mzuzu City and Lilongwe West topped the list of best-performing districts for PSLCE, while Neno, Chiradzulu and Nkhotakota recorded the lowest performance.
For JCE, Ludzi Girls in Mchinji emerged as the best-performing school nationally with 95.71%.
