Cholera cases on the rise in Blantyre

Health authorities in Blantyre have disclosed that they are registering more cholera cases due to consumption of contaminated water by residents in the district.

The disclosure comes as Blantyre is one of the top districts registering more cholera cases.

Speaking to MIJ Online Wongani Mbale, Health Promotion Officer for Blantyre DHO-has said cumulatively Blantyre has registered 86 cases with new 12 cases registered yesterday.

According to Mbale, authorities are currently distributing chlorine and conducting health education as one way of curbing the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile ministry of health will roll out cholera vaccine administration starting Monday next week and Blantyre is targeting over 900 thousand people.
