Authorities have disclosed a rise in unfair trading practices in the country, a situation which is infringing on consumer rights.
The disclosure by the Competition and Fair Trading Commission comes ahead of the commemoration of the World Consumer Rights Day on 14th March 2024, under the theme “Terms and conditions, traders’ obligations”.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Innocent Helema spokesperson for the Competition and Fair Trading Commission said the theme is meant to raise awareness against the increase in unfair and unreasonable terms and conditions by traders especially in the sectors of energy, agriculture and financial services.
