Authorities are attributing the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country to failure by people to comply with set preventive measures.
The remarks are coming as the country in the past 24 hours has registered over 220 new cases of Covid-19.
It is against such a background National Initiative for Civic Education-NICE has today re- launched the Covid-19 awareness and mobilization campaign.
According to Gray Kalindekafe, Programs Manager at NICE, factors contributing to the spreading of Covid-19 include; wedding ceremonies, sporting activities and political rallies among others.
Kalindekafe said for the country to counter the surging cases- there’s need to intensify preventive measures against the further spread of the pandemic.
Meanwhile as a way of contributing to the fight against the spreading of the pandemic, Kalindekafe said NICE has distributed solar powered -free play radio sets to assist in the dissemination of messages on the prevention of the pandemic.
The radios have been distributed to community-based listening clubs from across the country.
