The Presidential Debate Task Force says preparations are complete to hold the presidential debate at Bingu International Convention Center (BICC), with five political parties confirmed to participate.
The debate is scheduled for August 21, August 29, and September 4 and will include DPP, MCP, UTM, UDF, and PP.
Golden Matonga, Chairperson of the Task Force, said the debate will target political parties that meet set criteria, noting that all 17 candidates cannot be accommodated due to limited time and space.
He explained that the criteria guide the selection process to ensure only candidates with a realistic chance of winning will participate.
Bornface Chibwana from the Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) said he hopes presidential candidates will focus on policy issues and be held accountable to their campaign promises.
