Flames recall four players

The Malawi national football team has been forced to recall four players to the Africa cup of nations due to rising Covid19 cases among players in Cameroon.

The Flames will be in action this evening against Guinea in Group B opener.

The four are goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, defenders Paul Ndlovu, Dan Chimbalanga and striker Stain Davie who will leave Malawi today.

The Flames travelled with 23 players to Afcon finals instead of 28 players.

However, CAF increased squad list to boost teams with more playing personnel, in the event of more than three Covid-19 cases.

In the last 24 hours, six players including prolific attacker Gabadihno Mhango and three officials who include head of technical panel Mario Marinica tested positive for Covid19.
