The ministry of agriculture is citing shortage of forex as the main reason behind failure to meet the 40-day ultimatum in the full administration of the Affordable Input Program as only less than half of beneficiaries have redeemed the inputs.
The remarks have been said ahead of the initial deadline that President Lazarus Chakwera gave to the exercise which lies today.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Sam Kawale, Minister of Agriculture indicated that only 46 percent of people are the ones in the country who have accessed and bought Fertilizers.
According to Kawale, government already completed the process of buying fertilizer but currently they are just waiting for the Reserve Bank of Malawi to complete the payments.
