The Ministry of Agriculture has announced the allocation of 530 billion kwacha to support the mega farm unit.
This was revealed during the launch of private sector mega farms facilities, tractors, and consultant training in Lilongwe.
In an interview with MIJ Online, Sam Kawale Minister of Agriculture emphasized that the mega farm unit projects are designed to benefit farmers in both agribusiness and food security.
Kawale added that to ensure responsible use of public funds, tractors purchased with these funds will be equipped with trackers, calculating and transferring generated funds to a designated account.
Meanwhile, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, Vice Chancellor of Lilongwe University of agriculture and Natural Resources has emphasized the potential benefits for export markets and underscored the role of mega farms in ensuring national food security.
